Examine Yourself | Paul Washer
The idea of examining your own profession of faith is not too popular. But it is just what the Apostle Paul instructs believers to do at times in 2 Corinthians 13:5. "Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless indeed you fail to meet the test!"
Even though it is in Scripture, not many Christians are familiar with examining their own faith and asking whether it is real. Generally pastors and evangelists will tell us that if we, at some time in our life, “asked Jesus into our heart,” then we are Christians, and that any doubts in our mind about our conversion are satanic lies which we should ignore. The trouble is, none of this is biblical. As Paul Washer points out in this message, professing Christians need to examine their faith to see if it is real. He also addresses why this is the case and how it should be done, all from the teachings of Scripture.
You should especially listen to this message if you have doubts about your own conversion, or you can give it to a person whom you think may not be a Christian. Preachers of the gospel should certainly also hear this, so that they do not give people bad counsel.
