This is a zealous word of exhortation, touching many and varied aspects of the Christian life, bringing them all under the head of pleasing Christ. It truly has the effect of jarring one back to the realization of the central truths of the Christian life.
One other key trait of this message is that it presents Paul Washer preaching to a crowd which he believes to be composed largely of Christians. Most often we hear Paul preaching to unbelievers, and in such cases we see his emphasis on the wrath of God against sin and false assurance of salvation. But in this sermon, we have a great example of how believers should encourage and plead with fellow believers in mutual love, joy, and faith.
